Crisis management 2700-ZSK-OG
This course covers issues related to preparation for image crises and taking action during such situations. Examples of crisis situations, their causes, effects, and also ways of dealing with image crises by public figures, companies, and institutions will be discussed during the course.
The entire course program is based on the description of original methods and concepts developed based on scientific work and the practical experience of the lecturer. Within the scope of the course, the models of dealing with crisis situations will be presented.
The course also discusses the full procedure and plan for crisis communication, before, during, and after its occurrence. Such aspects as Q&A, key messages, and model statements will be described. The image crisis cycle will also be described. The tasks of the crisis team will be defined. Selected types of crises will be presented, e.g. concerning their place of occurrence, effects, or duration.
The course will also include a review of the crisis audit procedure, as well as a description of a model including degrees of vulnerability to crisis situations. During the course, students will also become familiar with the current results of research conducted by the author of the course.

After completing the course, students:
KNOWLEDGE:
• learn key issues related to crisis management,
• gain knowledge in the area of crisis response procedure,
• gain knowledge in the field of managing an image crisis,
SKILLS:
• acquire skills related to recognizing types of crises,
• acquire skills of dealing with selected crises,
• acquire skills of using specific tools in the context of responding during a crisis,
OTHER COMPETENCES:
• learn how to practically implement methods and concepts presented by the lecturer during the course
Assessment criteria
The evaluation (grade) of the course will be based on a final test. A positive grade will be given to the student after receiving a minimum of 50% of the points possible to obtain.
