Historical success. The history of Polish entrepreneurs 2600-HSDPP-OG

The subject is devoted to the history of famous entrepreneurs' families in Poland as a source of experience and inspiration in the field of competitive advantages for today's entrepreneurs and employees of various companies. It shows - on specific examples - the possibilities of analyzing the traditions of family entrepreneurship in Poland in the nineteenth, twentieth and early twenty-first centuries and to "translate" these traditions into specific business practices that are competitive in the present day. The main part of the course will be filled with specific business practices resulting from the tradition of family entrepreneurship. During the course, attention will be paid to psychological factors in running a business and the issues of diversified activities of entrepreneurs depending on the environment and specific conditions of running a business. The classes cover the issue of corporate social responsibility, philanthropic activities and the impact of individual practitioners on technological and social progress.
The subject of Polish entrepreneurs will be updated on an ongoing basis with references to what has also happened in the world of "other than Polish" businesses to emphasize not only the local but also the global context.
Classes provide the opportunity to meet witnesses to history (heirs of famous business families in Poland), researchers and business representatives. We will prepare at least two podcasts with Polish representatives of global business per semester, which will be prepared by students (project works based on the principles of business journalism) posted in the Business Audio Library and / or presented on Radio Campus.

Assessment criteria

Preparation of family histories or local traditions of entrepreneurship from the perspective of participants' biographies, scored activity in the classroom, a project on the use of business traditions to optimize organizational activities today, filling the Business Audio Library with artefacts. One individual or team work (with a comparable scope per capita) may be presented for the assessment.
