The aim of the course is to be familiar with:
• nature of self-discipline and four obstacles
• effects of choices between hedonism and eudaimonia (an ant and a cricket)
• Dimensions of self-discipline and determination
• five necessary principles of applying self-discipline
• process of learning self-discipline
• creating useful resolutions
• effect of an empathic gap
• dealing with difficult resolutions
• levels of difficulties to be overcome
• developmental and task targets
• target exercise – foundation of persistence
• monitoring of our actions – principles
• basic techniques of monitoring progress
• principles of forming habits
• handling useless habits
• applying habits
• enforcing the power of will
• resistant to temptations

Upon the course completion (lecture, discussions) a student will:
• set current level of his persistence and determination
• realise the nature of main difficulties concerning the power of will
• know and present consequences of “hot” and “cold” decisions
• set advantages that we wants to gain thanks to persistence training
• apply the rules of self-discipline to his own planning
• apply simple resolutions to his actions
• create his own system of monitoring progress
• distinguish task and developmental targets
• concentrate his energy and actions on development of his own persistence and passion
• create skills demanding exercises and perfection
• create directions of actions in order to overcome postponement
• prepare a plan of strengthening his motivation
• set needed habits to developmental
• set ways of applying needed habits
• present the programme of forming new habits
