Urban natural system 1900-SYPRM(KZ)-OG
The course explores the role of the natural system in the structure and functioning of the city. It analyzes key natural components, their interrelations, and the ecological, social, economic, climatic, and cultural functions they perform. Particular attention is given to urbanization pressures, threats to biodiversity, and strategies for integrating nature into spatial planning.
Topics include: the concept of the city as an ecosystem, the functions of urban green and blue infrastructure, adaptation to climate change (e.g., the sponge city model), technical and innovative solutions such as green roofs and rain gardens, as well as revitalization of rivers and valleys. The course also addresses urban policies, legal frameworks, public participation, and environmental education. Selected good practices from Poland and abroad are discussed.
