Evolutionism 1300-WEWOW-OG
Lectures- Evolutionism as a synthetic natural science, which describes and explains evolutionary processes at almost all levels of biota organization. Classical theories of evolution, with a special reference to Darwinism. The factors and mechanisms of evolution in the view of Synthetic Theory of Evolution (STE). Microevolution. Speciation as a central point of evolution and its meaning to other evolutionary processes. Macro- and megaevolution. Molecular evolution and evolution of development (EVO-DEVO).

Learning outcomes
Student can recognize and understand relationships between morphology, behaviour and other characters of organisms as well as the relationsips between organizm and its abiotic and biotic environment. His knowledge allow him to undestand the mechanisms and effects of evolution at different levels of biota organization (including molecular level). He can recognize micro-macro and megaevolutionary processes and can understand the relationsips between them. Student get to know examples of evolutionin in selected groups of organisms. He can present results of researches published in scientific literature.
Assessment criteria
Presence frequency, passing a course - writtten essay on the topics proposed by the lecturer.
