Mineral cosmetics – the patchways of new product creation 1300-PKMKP-OG
The course will be presented to the following issues:
- Analysis of the market in the field of mineral cosmetics in Poland and indication of potential raw materials that can be used in the cosmetics industry;
- Design and independent creation of a selected product from the category of white cosmetics;
- Design and independent creation of a selected product from the color cosmetics category;
- Methods of testing the color parameters of cosmetics, as an example of quality control;
- Methods of preserving mineral cosmetics;
- Assessment of the potential of using the developed mineral bases as a product that meets the commercialization criteria.

Learning outcomes
After finishing the course the student is able to:
- knows modern instrumental analytical methods used in the study of mineral and organic substances, knows the advantages and limitations of individual methods, knows the importance of empirical research in the reconstruction of natural environments
- knows the principles of operation and analytical capabilities of specific research equipment and the principles of optimal research planning using the available research facilities
- knows the consequences of non-compliance with the principles of intellectual property rights protection
- knows the rules and principles of occupational health and safety at a university
- knows the principles of entrepreneurship
- knows how to independently analyze the collected scientific material, interpret the obtained research results and draw appropriate conclusions based on his own experience and the latest literature data
- can use the relevant laws on the protection of intellectual property
- knows how to present a selected topic by means of a multimedia presentation
- collaborates in laboratory groups and on field courses
- knows how to plan the preparatory stages for the performance of a presentation and final work
- by carrying out geological research tasks, knows how to identify problems and propose ways of solving them
- is responsible for his own safety and that of others during laboratory work and during field courses
- understands the need for lifelong learning
- shows a critical attitude towards plagiarism
- cares about the reliability and credibility of its work
Assessment criteria
Evaluation: 1. Student’s work during laboratory classes (absence limit - two); 2. A report which is made from a selected block of laboratories.
