Synthesis of radionuclides and their application in nuclear medicinie 1200-SYNRAD-OG
Synthesis and types of radioisotopes used in medicine.
Specific methods used in synthesis of labeled compounds.
Chemical, enzymatic, stereospecific syntheses of biologically active compounds labeled with short-lived isotopes of carbon, fluorine, nitrogen, oxygen, and iodine. Positron Emission Tomography.

Learning outcomes
After completion of this course, students will understand different chemical and enzymatic techniques used in syntheses of radio labeled compounds for Nuclear Medicine. Students will know what types of radio pharmaceuticals are used in medical research and diagnosis. Students will understand the principles and application of Positron Emission Tomography in diagnosis of cancer and what short-lived isotopes are used in clinical research.
