In 2017/2018 academic year the following research topics will be available (in Polish or English):
- the European Policy of the Information Society and,Digital Society,
- the digital economy (e-commerce),and the Digital Single Market,
- the information tools used in the European integration process (first of all by the European Union as well as by other European structures and NGO's acting to promote the European integration process,
- various types of the European information systems,
- information and digital societies, knowledge based society, network society, crowdsourcing and the social networks acting to promote the European integration process,
- databases, the European Union information networks,
- European Union media policy,
- information and communication technologies (ICT), including the newest technologies like: Big data, cloud computing, radio-frequency identification technology (NFC) (smart cities, Internet of Things), robots etc.
- safety of the European information systems, cybercrimes and cyberterroryzm,
- press services of the European Union,
- the issues of the copyright and the intellectual property in the European Union,
- public information in the European Union,
- the content of the Internet relating to the European integration process,
- the Strategy "Europe 2020",
- the Digital Agenda for Europe,
- the Union of Innovation,
- the content of Internet relating to the European Union,
- the European Union Policy in Research and Innovation (“Horizon” 2020), in particular ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium),
- implementation of the Polish programme "Polska Cyfrowa".
- Industry policy of the European Union. Industrial Internet (Industry 4.0),
- platformation.
The seminar lasts two (2) semesters - 30 hours per each (all together 60 hours). This is time required to be spent in the class. Besides, a Student will be expected to work individually, what relates to his writing of a Master's Degree thesis. This amount of time depends upon a Student's individual abilities but not less than 440 hours.
During the first semester a Student is to be obliged to formulate a subject of a research, to choose research methods to be applied and to prepare a Polish and foreign scientific literature on the subject. A Student is also expected to write a scheme of a Master's Degree thesis and to present some achievements of his/her research during the seminar and to prepare at least the first part of a text (first chapter).
The second semester is to write a thesis. A student is obliged to present periodically his/her achievements in the class.
At the end of the second semester a Student should submit a Master's Degree thesis and to pass the final exam.

Learning outcomes
The main target of the course is to prepare a Master's Degree thesis by a Student and to learn techniques of writing of a scientific text.
KNOWLEDGE
1.Systemized, deep knowledge of terminology in European Studies and methodology referring to the MA thesis area.
2.Systemized, deep, specialized knowledge in European Studies regarding a MA topic.
3.Deep knowledge of current research in European Studies referring to a MA topic.
4.Advanced methods of analysis, interpretation, valuing problems of different types of information objects being studied.
5.Basic terms and rules of intellectual property and copyrigh, accepted and observed in MA research.
SKILLS
1. Searching, analyzing, evaluating, selecting and integrating information from different sources, formulating critical opinions in an individual research.
2. Deepen research skills, including literature analysis, synthesis of different ideas and opinions, selection of methods, developing research tools, discussion and presentation of findings, enabling original solutions of problems in European studies.
3. Individual learning and developing research skills in European Studies.
4.Critical analysis and interpretation of information object referring to European Union information systems and adequate.
5.Logic arguments (own and of the others), conclusions, synthesis - regarding a MA thesis area.
6. Verbal and written communication with professionals in the field of the European Union information systems in Polish and in a foreign language.
7.Advanced written skills in Polish.
8.Knowledge of foreign language referring to a MA thesis area on B2+ level.

Assessment criteria
Credit graduate seminar:
Term I:
- Attendance,
- The formulation of a research theses,
- Identification of a thesis problem (theme), plan and macro-structure,
- Collection of literature (including literature in foreign languages) and a correct formulation of a bibliography,
- Critical analysis of research materials, including of the literature in foreign languages,
- Improving competences related to language, grammar and spelling, developing drafting and editing skills.
- presenting at least the first chapter of a thesis.
Term II :
Presenting at the seminar meetings the subsequent thesis chapters in the order of their writing and regularly consulting their content.
Supervisor assesses: systematic work, the clarity of the plan and narrative, theses’ completeness, language and style, correct writing technique (bibliography, footnotes), the original nature of the thesis, diligence in editing.
The “pass” mark for the whole seminar is to allow the student to pass the final exam on the basis of approved thesis.

Literature is recommended individually - accordingly to a subject of a research. On the top of it a general literature on the methods and techniques of writing of a scientific texts will be suggested like for example:

To prepare the Master's Degree thesis a Student should use not only Polish but also foreign scientific literature what should be included to the enclosed bibliography in the thesis.
