Foreign and security policy of the European Communities/European Union 4003-EU2-SEM-DM
During the seminar broad groups of problems are treated:
- genesis, history and factors of the European political/military integration,
- external policy of the European Union,
- position and role of the EU in the contemporary world.
Student’s workload:

Learning outcomes
The main result of the seminar is a preparation by student of the MA thesis. Student should know basic methodology and technique of scientific research and preparing scientific texts.
In the field of KNOWLEDGE
Student:
1.Has a deep knowledge on terminology, theories and methodology on European studies and European integration in the field of the MA thesis.
2. Has a deep knowledge on selected problems in European studies.
3. Has a particular knowledge on contemporary, main scientific research in the topic of the MA thesis.
4. Knows and understands advanced methods of analyze, interpretation, evaluation and categorization of different problems in the field of own research.
5. Knows basic norms of copyright law and intellectual property in the field on the MA thesis.
In the field of SKILLS
Student:
1.Is able to research, analyze, evaluate, make selection and aggregate data and information from different sources.
2.Is able to make critical assessment on the basic on own knowledge.
3.Disposes of the deep scientific skills, including assessments of the different authors’ texts, interpretation, making synthesis of the various ideas and points of view, choice of research methods and instruments.
4.Is able to work out and present research results.
5.Is able to learn and develop own scientific skills.
6.Is able to propose on its own a solution of the selected problem.
7.Is able to propose arguments on the basis of the own ideas and the points of view of other authors, formulate conclusions and make synthesis.
8.Is able to communicate in oral and written ways with specialists on the European studies in Polish and foreign languages.
9.Reads literature in Polish and foreign languages.
10. Disposes of advances skills in preparing written texts in Polis language.
11. Is able to make research directed by a supervisor and to be criticized from scientific point of view.
12. Is able to make planning of particular stages of own research.
In the field of SOCIAL COMPETENCIES
Student:
1.Understanda the need for life-long learning.
2.Is able to identify and resolve in a proper way dilemmas of the scientific research.
Assessment criteria
Assessment criteria of the MA seminar:
Semester I:
- presence,
- preparing of the research thesis,
- defining the problem (topic) of the MA thesis, including topics of chapters,
- collecting of literature (including literature in foreign languages) and preparing bibliography,
- critical analysis of literature, including literature in foreign languages,
- development of linguistic, grammatical and editorial skills.
Semester II:
Presentation of following chapters of the MA thesis and regular consultations on them.
Professor supervises all stages of preparation of the MA thesis, including regular basis of its preparation, quality of the table of contents, complexity of thesis, research instruments (bibliography, notes), student’s workload, editing.
Main criteria of assessment of the seminar: student may pass a final exam after completing the MA thesis.
Bibliography
Literature depends on topics of specific dissertations.
