The seminar is conducted in the form of student’s individual work with the thesis supervisor. The student chooses the subject of thesis and the research method. Then he collects the literature and analyses it in order to write the summary of his thesis. Then he writes consecutive chapters of his thesis. The seminar is finished when the whole dissertation is ready.
Topics: information and communication policy, information and communication strategies, media strategy, information systems, information networks, language policy, access to information, flow of information, information society.
Student’s workload:

thesis writing – 150 hours

After the seminar students

- know issues and the state of research related to your dissertation
- appreciate the value of different perspectives and opinions expressed in various scientific traditions
- know methodical rules governing academic papers
- know technical aspects of academic writing
- understand the need for reliable documentation of scientific statements (references, bibliography)
- know basic ethical rules governing in research

Assessment criteria
Assessment of the seminar :
Semester I:
- attendance,
- the formulation of theses research
- identification of the research problem (theme of the work), preparation of plan of work divided into chapters,
- collecting literature and building a proper bibliography,
- critical analysis of the material
- raising the competence of language, grammar and spelling, developing the skills of drafting and editing.
Semester II :
Presentation at the seminar meetings consecutive chapters work in the order of their writing and regularly consulting their content.
Supervisor assesses: systematic work, the clarity of the plan and narrative, completeness theses, language and style, correct scientific workshop (bibliography, footnotes), original nature of the work, diligence editing.
The pass mark for the whole of the seminar is to allow the seminarian to defend on the basis of approved work.
