European Labour Markets 4003-204ERP
At the seminar, students will learn about the role of the labour market in the European integration process. The first part of the workshop will focus on the demographic situation in the EU Member States and its implications for labour markets, human resource policies, labour mobility, methods to combat unemployment and employee mobilisation. The next part of the course will be devoted to a comparative analysis of labour law regulations in different Member States and their practical implementation. The European Employment Strategy, social systems and the principles of coordination of the social security system will also be discussed. The final part of the seminar will focus on the problem of economic migrants in European labour markets, the exploitation of their potential and the processes of integration in their host countries.

Learning outcomes
WITH REGARDS TO KNOWLEDGE the student will:
1. have developed a theoretical knowledge on the specifics of the latest migration movements;
2. know and understand fundamental concepts related to the European labour market, such as: employment policy, labour market protection policy, wage earners, social security systems etc
3. understand the decision-making processes undertaken by the EU institutions and Member State authorities in relation to national labour markets,
4. be knowledgeable about migrants in European labour markets, taking into account cultural differences and adaptation problems,
As far as SKILLS are concerned, the student will be able to:
1. interpret migration phenomena against the background of rapid change in the world and use their knowledge to verify hypotheses;
2. to single-handedly analyse the documents on activities undertaken on the labour market,
3. discuss the readings they have read and discuss the examples of bad and good practices of the Member States in terms of employment policy.
4. present national positions on the migration policies of states and their activities on labour markets;
In the field of PERSONAL AND SOCIAL COMPETENCE the student will be competent in:
1. formulating balanced opinions on migration phenomena by selecting reliable sources;
2. formulating conclusions about the importance of modern migration in the formation of multicultural societies;
3. the application of theoretical knowledge in the analysis of basic phenomena in international economic and political relations
4. shaping the attitudes of tolerance towards otherness, multiculturalism and the acceptance of "foreign" workers on the labour market.
