Applied Aesthetics 3800-ESTS21-S-OG
The aim of the seminar will be to apply the tools of philosophical aesthetics to such issues as business, creativity, ecology, everyday life, design, health, law, mass culture, politics, sports. Even if aesthetics is usually associated with philosophy of arts and such categories as beauty or contemplation, it has gone well beyond this traditional paradigm and as a result it offers important insights into certain aspects of the contemporary world.

Acquired knowledge:
- deep knowledge of research methods and argumentative strategies used in the philosophical approaches discussed during the course
- deep knowledge of methods of interpretation of philosophical texts
- deep knowledge od the philosophical Polish terminology
- deep knowledge of the relations between philosophical ideas and changes in culture and societies
Acquired skills:
- ability to interpret philosophical texts, creatively and innovatively comment on them and cofront different theses
- ability to offer simple philosophical argumentation, identifying logical relations between theses
- ability to define one’s philosophical viewpoint
Acquired social skills:
- initiating and having discussions
- identifying one’s knowledge and skills
- identifying lacunae in one’s knowledge and skills and searching for possibilities to eliminate them

- writing resumes of the texts included in the reading list
- presentation or written assessment at the end of the course
