Course on the use of game theory to model social phenomena to explain and describe the function of social institutions as a mechanism of defense against social traps. Course topics dedicated applications will be preceded by introductory classes to the areas of game theory: 1. Games, strategies, solutions; 2. Zoro-sum games, saddle points and equilibria; 3. Lotteries and utility theory. Attitude to risk; 4. Rational choice approaches in sociology: Is the model of rational individuals applicable? 5. The paradoxes and limitations of individual rationality; 6. Non-zero sum game and Nash equilibrium; 7. The Prisoner's Dilemma and other games of cooperation; 8. How to avoid the trap prisoner's dilemma / tragedy of the commons? Oaths and obligations. 9. Threats and madness as a method; 10. Backward induction; 11. Individual rationality in the light of experiments with the "centipede" game; 12. Social choreography and correlated equilibrium; 13. Controlled uncertainty and practice of mixed strategies.

Written retake exam
The condition of getting credit is also not exceeding 2 unexcused absences
