Ukrainian in business 3222-JUB1C[B2]-OG
The material includes economic and commercial lexis, language analysis of selected documents, commercial terminology with elements of the bank, stock exchange and insurance market. Introduces the latest concepts in economics, economy and trade; registers and discusses current trends in the development of Ukrainian business language used in professional practice.
During the classes, students learn about the culture and specificity of language in the sphere of business, expand specialist vocabulary regarding economic and trade contacts with Ukrainian partners; enrich the already learned terminology from economic, commercial, banking, marketing and advertising on selected texts and specialist literature.
The course prepares you to work independently in the field of understanding, compiling and translating content-related texts from the commercial sector. For the purposes of the course, students independently arrange dictionaries of specialized terms.
The scope of content can be used as a basis for research in the field of translation, lexicography and influence on the choice of the subject of the thesis.
Student workload:
organized hours - 30 g.
preparation for each class - approx. 15 g.

Learning outcomes
The student knows in a deepened degree: the terminology and methodology of linguistic research, including lexicographical; translation theory and translation techniques in the field of specialized translations; key issues related to the development and functioning of modern Ukrainian language in the field of business, commerce and entrepreneurship.
Student is able to: properly choose sources, including business texts in the field of business and information derived from them (eg terms relevant to the field); use appropriate research methods and tools in the field of Ukrainian linguistics (including translation and lexicography); communicate on specialist topics with people related to the broadly understood field of business, commerce and entrepreneurship.
Assessment criteria
The subject ends with getting credit with a grade.
When issuing the final assessment, the following criteria apply:
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects - 5.0 (very good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4.5 (good plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes without taking into account some (less important) aspects - 4.0 (good grade)
- achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, omitting some important aspects and with significant inaccuracies - 3.5 (satisfactory plus)
- achievement of the assumed learning outcomes, omitting significant aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3.0 (satisfactory plus)
- failure to achieve the expected learning outcomes - 2.0 (unsatisfactory)
The subject ends with a written exam, where the assessment criteria are presented in the form of interest thresholds (points obtained from the written test):
60% - 69% - 3 (satisfactory)
70% - 77% - 3+ (rated satisfactory plus)
78% - 85% - 4 (good)
86% - 91% - 4+ (good plus)
92% - 97% - 5 (very good)
98% -100% - 5! (Very good with an exclamation mark)
