Practical phonetics - English - remedial classes 3222-FPJA-ZW
The phonetic training mainly covers the segmental dimension, i.e. the articulation of vowels, diphthongs and consonants, and partially connected speech elements. During the classes, students will perform a number of exercises related to distinguishing and articulating sounds, listening comprehension, maintaining the rhythm of speech and using the right accent and intonation.
The main aim of the course is to educate students to correctly express themselves and conduct fluent conversation in English, as close as possible to the native pronunciation within the standard variety of English (the pronunciation model is RP, Received Pronunciation). The other objectives of the course include familiarizing students with the theory and principles of British phonetics, familiarizing students with the principles of transcribing British sounds, as well as exercises for pronouncing British sounds individually and in words and sentences.
