The aim of the course is to teach students the confrontational grammar of polish and Ukrainian.
The history of both languages has common roots. The theme of the part of the lesson is the processes of formation of the polish and Ukrainian language. Students get to know m.in. origin of polish and Ukrainian lexicon.
Phonetic and phonological systems, lexical, phraseological, word-forming, morphological and syntactic systems of both languages are consistently considered in a comparative aspect. An important part of the classes is the familiarization of students m.in. with lexical semantics, passive lexical, grammatical categories, sentence structure in polish and Ukrainian.
Students ' mastery of contrastive grammar also complements their understanding of the relationships that occur between the elements of the language system.
The language material necessary for the confrontational analysis broadens the students ' linguistic competence, since the classes are conducted in Ukrainian.
If there is no possibility to conduct classes in a stationary form, classes will be held using remote communication tools, most likely Google meet and recommended by the university.
The estimated total number of hours that the student must spend to achieve the learning outcomes defined for the subject – 60 hours.
Classes-30 hours.
Independent work of the student: Current preparation for Classes – 15 hours, preparation for passing – 15 hours.

Learning outcomes
After the course, the student:
1. knowledge:
- knows and understands at an advanced level the research in the field of Ukrainian-Polish contrasting grammar, knows the subject and methodological specificity of the subject, terminology and the specificity of philological research (S1_W01);
- knows and understands at an advanced level the complex nature of the language and the complexity and historical variability of its meanings (S1_W06);
2. skills:
- be able to use theoretical approaches, research paradigms and concepts specific to contrasting grammar in typical professional situations (S1_U04);
- can communicate with specialists in linguistics and translation in Polish and Ukrainian using various communication channels and techniques (S1_U06).
Assessment criteria
Conditions for admission to credit:
- ongoing preparation for classes,
- attendance at classes (the student has the right to two absences).
Assessment components:
- continuous, formative assessment (current preparation for classes, activity, etc.) – 10%
- written credit-90%.
Credit criteria (percentage thresholds):
99% -100% - 5 !(very good with exclamation mark)
96% - 98 % - 5 (very good)
87% - 95% - 4+ (good plus)
78% - 86% - 4 (good)
69% - 77% - 3+ (sufficient plus)
60% – 68% - 3 (satisfactory)
The student has the right to pass the subject in the revision session on the same principles as the basic session.
