Polish Sign Language - practical course A2 3003-PJMOA2
The aim of the A1 course is to enrich the basic set of signs introduced at the level A1. The repertory of thematic fields includes pronouns, numerals up to 1 billion, everyday expressions, names of things, family, affirmation and negation, colors, weather, journey, visits at the physician, countries and cities, appearance vs. personality, the Deaf community, shoppings, merchandize, victuals etc. More text understanding exercises based upon presentations prepared by PSL native signers.
The grammar module develops structures of affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences, the use of space, non-manual elements, verbs, classifiers etc.
The SW system will be applied throughout the course.
The Deaf culture will be studied as well.

Learning outcomes
After the A2 course the student is expected to understand PSL expressions concerning everyday matters. They will be able to catch the main idea of a simple PSL sentence. They will understand short PSL texts, as well as find the information sought therein. The student will be capable of recognizing signs written down with use of SW symbols and of applying the notation to code PSL signs. They will follow simple conversations no matter if everything is understood.
Assessment criteria
1. attendance: 15%
2. class activity: 10%
3. partial and final test: 85%
