How many times do you eat per day? Many, so this is a really important topic.
Do you know:
how does the perception of a taste develop?
how our surroundings affect the amount of food we eat?
how can we manage with overeating and ineffective diets?
The answers to these questions will be provided during this course.
The psychology of eating is based on cognitive psychology, social psychology,
personality psychology and biology.
This course will provide information to students regarding the perception of
the taste, regulation of hunger and satiety, mindless eating and mindful
eating – including knowledge about changing habits and coaching methods.
Student after course will know how support individual in the change of eating
style. Classes will discuss stages of change, creating eating habits, goal
management and mindful eating – alternative for the diets.

Knowledge:

clarify the factors affecting the perception of flavor
characterize the internal and external factors affecting consumption
understand difficulties and differences in the process of changing eating
behaviour
describe the reasons and motivations underlying eating and overeating
formulate the goals and manage motivation during the change
recognize the individual’s needs and rewards in eating habits and know
how design new behavior
describe mindful eating as new approach in healthy eating
Attitude:
be able to critically reflect on eating process and change in eating
behaviour
Assessment criteria
Course grades will be determined as follows:
Examination: 50% (max 30 points)
Final Paper: 30% (max 18 points)
A final paper written at home that will test your understanding, reasoning
skills and independent thinking; emphasis will be placed both on
understanding theory as well as on insight in its real-life application.
15 minutes application of literature knowledge and Quizzes based on
literature for the class: 20% (max 12 points)
1 x application of literature knowledge based on understanding the
subjects of the class – on the end of the class. -> 10% (6 points)
Task: a short note after the class, in which the student formulates the
conclusions "how the knowledge gained in the classroom can be used in
professional practice".
2 x Quiz questions based on knowledge of the readings of the previous
classes – at the beginning of the class.-> 10% (3 points for each quiz)
Grading policy:
< 60% – 2 (failed)
60-63% 3
64-69% 3.5
70-79% 4
80-89% 4.5
90-95% 5
> 95% 5!
To pass the course, both the overall grade and the grade of the
final exam needs to be at least 60%.
Attendance rules
Attendance is a necessary condition to pass the class.
One unexcused absence is allowed.
It is possible to have one excused absence – student must do additional work.
Only sick leave and extreme life situations will be handled as a valid excuse.
Missing more than one unexcused absence results in course failure.
