THE BASIC MODULE
Introduction to intercultural education:
• Clarification of such concepts as "culture", "multiculturalism", "interculturalism" and "intercultural education"
• Stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination: sources and ways of overcoming them • Dimensions of culture such as: expressive/reserved; monochromic/polychromic; individualism/collectivism; high context/low context; etc.
• Possibility of cross-cultural projects with the use of Polish-German Youth Cooperation and Erasmus + Youth Programmes.
Duration: 8 didactic hours
Important: Participation in the basic module is a necessary to take part in the complementary modules.
COMPLEMENTARY MODULE
Supporting the development of intercultural competence of children and youth:
• Characteristics of work in intercultural classroom
• Interactive methods stimulating cross-cultural understanding and supporting the development of intercultural competences of children and youth • Role of teacher as a person who appreciates and benefits from diversity • Development of skills necessary to work with migrant children and children returning from migration
• The most common problems occurring in intercultural classroom. Strategies to prevent / deal with them (with particular emphasis on the adaptation process of foreign pupils)
