RPE – Specialisation module 3 – The family in the process of education and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities 2300-MS3-RPE
Within the module the following subjects will be discussed:
1. Introductory lecture- A family with a disabled member
2. Communication with a disabled person (only for Pedagogika włączająca specialisation)
3. Methods of working with families of a disabled person

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
each student has basic knowledge of the institutions, which support disabled people
has elementary knowledge of social relationships between those who are disabled, people in their environment and social institutions
has basic knowledge of psychosocial difficulties that disabled people must face and of the conditions of their social functioning
knows various mechanisms and conditions of educational process, rehabilitation and different ways of supporting disabled people
knows about different views on various mechanisms and conditions of educational process, rehabilitation and different ways of supporting disabled people
Skills:
is able to interpret correctly the process of education of disabled people and to determine its meaning
is able to put together theoretical knowledge about special education and related sciences in order to analyse complex issues of supporting families of disabled people
can diagnose and analyse specific needs displayed by families of disabled people
is able to predict practical consequences of the process of supporting families of a disabled person and knows how to apply in practise basic diagnostic tools for evaluating such process
knows how to analyse possible solutions to the family problems, how to choose the adequate one and apply it in practice
is able to prepare multimedia presentations concerning basic theories and terminology in special education
Competences:
displays deep knowledge and abilities in terms of supporting families of disabled people; understands the need of constant personal and professional development
cooperates with local institutions, which support families of a disabled person. Can work as a part of a team supporting families. Understands the importance of showing professionalism and of following the rules of professional ethics
is able to plan and undertake actions supporting families of disabled people and to determine priorities, which would enable him to achieve the goals established by him or by the others
feels responsible for the consequences and the results of his work. Can identify and resolve dilemmas associated with supporting disabled people
participates actively in organising inclusive and integrated education for disabled people and in supporting their families
