Participants will get to know key aspects of scientific communication: publishing research results in scientific journals and other types of publications, presenting them and preparing successful grant applications. The goal of the course is to support the participants in developing their publication and grant strategies. Participants will become familiar with different types of publications, their evaluation methods as well as how to search for linguistics journals in databases, prepare a manuscript for submission, and the editing and review process. Other issues to be discussed include typical problems related to different types of scientific publications: abstract, title, literature review, method and materials, results and discussion, conclusion and references.
We will also discuss different parts of the grant application, including detailed description, summary, abstract for the general public, work plan and budget.
