Lectures are divided into blocks (the work of a given author), which in turn consist of the following parts: 1, Introduction (context of national literature and selected literary trends and tendencies); 2. Synthesis (main motifs, vision of the world, poetics, literary genres, trends in the work of a given writer); 3. A detailed presentation of the work of a given writer); 4. Illustration: analysis of selected fragments.

Knowledge: knows and understands:
He knows contemporary Latin American literature, with particular emphasis on the works of the most outstanding writers of this continent. He knows the socio-political and cultural conditions of national literatures, which result from the historical and literary process on the one hand, and from a specific political process on the other, which illustrates the influence of such events as the Mexican or Cuban revolution on literature. He knows the social, political, cultural and linguistic realities of Latin American countries, revealed in the analyzed texts. He knows the theories of the novel and other prose genres formulated by writers and critics in the field of this literature.
Skills:
Can use knowledge of contemporary Hispanic American literature to creatively identify, formulate and solve complex problems in an innovative way or perform research tasks, in particular:
- define the purpose and subject of scientific research, formulate a research hypothesis,
- develop research methods, techniques and tools and apply them creatively,
- draw conclusions based on the results of scientific research.
Reads, understands and interprets literary works both in their formal-linguistic and formal-genre layers, linguistic, formal and semantic nuances, finds irony, ambiguities and language games. He interprets the text and discourse from many perspectives, and performs in-depth analysis. He applies the acquired knowledge of literary theory to the analysis of specific works. Recognizes literary techniques known from theoretical works in literary texts. He presents his own position and the results of his own analyzes in speech and writing. Can communicate on specialized topics related to Latin American literature to the extent that allows active participation in the international scientific community. Can participate in scientific discourse.
Social competence:
He can find himself culturally in Latin American environments. He can formulate and present his own views. Can discuss with other people's positions in a manner appropriate for an academic discussion. Is ready to recognize the importance of knowledge in solving cognitive and practical problems, maintaining and developing the ethos of research and creative communities, including:
- conduct scientific activity in an independent manner,
- respecting the principle of public ownership of the results of scientific activity, taking into account the principles of intellectual property protection.
