Palaeozoology of invertebrates 1300-OPZB4W
The scientific subject comprises a general review of the body structure, mineralogy of skeleton, stratigraphic occurrence (range), and geological importance of the majority of invertebrate groups known from the fossil record. Discussed are all the recognized groups (phyla) of invertebrates of the Animal Kingdom, as well as their subphyla and classes (for arthropods and echinoderms, selected are the most common groups/classes). In many groups, the morphological structure is studied to the orders level. Special attention is paid to the occurrence of particular groups (taxa) in Poland, the rare reports of some uncommon or less important groups including.

Learning outcomes
In result of the Lecture, each student is able to recognize the basic groups of fossil invertebrates; understands their position in systematic hierarchy, and is familiar with their anatomical structure. Moreover, knows the stratigraphic ranges (to the orders level) and biostratigraphic and palaeoenvironmental importance of particular groups.
Assessment criteria
Verbal examination of the materials and laboratory exercises (the latter prior to the former). Checked-up is the understanding of all subjects presented by the Lecture.
