Methods of separation of minerals (the heavy media). Methods of decomposition samples of rocks and minerals. Dissolution of minerals and rocks in inorganic acids and their characteristics. The selection criteria of the analytical method - the sensitivity, accuracy and precision of the method. The methods of concentration of elements present in minerals or rocks. The course of the analysis of silicate and carbonate rocks. Interpretation of results. Methods of calculation results of the analysis of minerals in the crystallochemical formulas.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course student knows how to:
- use laboratory equipment, measuring equipment
- download the geological material for research
- select and correctly apply the analytical methods
- graphically presented geochemical data obtained
- convert the results of analyzes of crystallochemical formulas.
Assessment criteria
The condition of the credit is to give all reports made exercises. Final rating is the average grades given by the score of the written test and collected points from the reports.
