Learning outcomes
Basic knowledge of animal life sciences, including zoology, physiology and psychophysiology, theory of evolution, ecology, ethology, genetics, nature and environment protection
Basic knowledge of comparative psychology and zoopsychology as well as biological foundations of behaviour
Basic knowledge of environmental philosophy, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science and bioethics
Understanding the principles of operation of the main social (political, economic and cultural) institutions dealing with animals

Understanding the role of law, customs and morality as regulators of human-animal relations
Understanding the role of the media in shaping attitudes towards animals
Knowledge about ethical and cultural attitudes towards animals in the history of civilization, especially changes occurring in contemporary times
Understanding the natural, economic, legal, social and political determinants of human-animal relations
Awareness of the consequences of decisions, especially those affecting the natural environment and animal wellbeing
Knowledge of the basic terminology and methodology of the humanities and natural and social sciences
Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between art and nature and between art and science
Knowledge of animalistic iconography from prehistoric to contemporary times
Familiarity with resources in the arts, literature, language and philosophy related to reflection about animals and animality

Analysing the main phenomena of human-animal relations from the perspective of different disciplines
Diagnosing the main ideological disputes over the status of animals and their use by humans in the course of history
Interpreting academic and journalistic texts on human-animal relations
Interpreting the results of empirical and theoretical research
Identifying and analysing artistic and cultural processes and trends related to animals in a social context
Analysing and interpreting – in a cultural, social and ethical context – artistic projects featuring animals or their images
Communicating in a modern foreign language and making use of foreign-language source materials

Being prepared for following, critiquing and shaping attitudes towards animals
Being prepared for fact-based argumentation in academic debates and ideological disputes while respecting views different from one’s own
Being prepared for proper interpretation and promotion of human responsibility for animals and their habitats
Knowing how to continually update and expand one’s knowledge and improve one’s skills
Being prepared for acting in accordance with the code of scientific work ethics and decency while respecting one’s own and others’ health as well as intellectual property rights
