(in Polish) Seminar of French social sciences / Séminaire français de Sciences Sociales II 4901-SFNSII-OG
This seminar is based on the program of the Center for French Culture and Francophone Studies of the University of Warsaw. The Center main purpose is the promotion of achievements in social sciences and humanities from the French-speaking world. The lectures will be organized in two series. The first one will be comprised of meetings and debates with French-speaking guest academics from various fields of social sciences and humanities, who will present their research, as well as foundational lectures on classical texts. Discussion and dialogue are here conceived as the main instruments for education. The second series will be seminar sessions to conduct, in French, interdisciplinary studies of social phenomena in the light of a broad spectrum of social sciences, from anthropology and philosophy, to sociology, political science, and history.
Active participation to the seminar is expected from the students, in the form of team elaboration of talking points and debate material.

Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the student:
- will know the most important new theories in French humanities and social sciences
- will be able to use concepts and categories from the French humanities and social sciences for research and analytical purposes
Assessment criteria
Grading will be based on:
- participation in the preparation of and during the seminars
- final oral examination (15-20 min discussion)
