BA Seminar: Media and Politics in the United States 4219-ZS022
The seminar covers a variety of topics falling within its scope and within the interests of both the teacher and participants (including, but not limited to: political thought, comparative politics, political culture, political communication, international relations, social communication, traditional and social media, etc.) . The students are supposed to explore the topics they have chosen and present them to their colleagues, as well as to exchange views and comments. The result of the seminar is the preparation of BA theses on selected topics by the participants, presenting an original solution to a selected research problem with the use of research techniques and methods appropriate for social studies.

After completing the course, the students:
KNOWLEDGE
- have in-depth knowledge of the selected topic, falling within the scope of the seminar
- have the knowledge that allows to integrate different perspectives on the US politics and media
- know and understand the basic concepts and principles in the field of protection of industrial property and copyright
- know the basics of writting a BA thesis
SKILLS
- can search, analyze, evaluate, select and integrate information using various sources and formulate critical judgments
- have research skills, including analysis of the work of other authors, synthesis of various ideas and views, selection of research methods, as well as the elaboration and presentation of the results
- know how to independently acquire knowledge, broaden research skills and take actions aimed at developing their skills and managing their own career
- have the ability to present arguments, using their own views and views of other authors and to formulate conclusions and summaries
SOCIAL COMPETENCES
- can present their work in front of their colleagues
- know how to critically evaluate colleagues' work
- are able to accept criticism about their work
- are prepared for further studying at the MA level
Assessment criteria
Approvement of the seminar is based mainly on the submission of the BA thesis, however, the overall student's performance is also taken into account.
