Let's go to town! How local institutions work in practice (workshops) 4208-CHWM-OG
The aim of the workshop is to familiarize students with practical dimension of different types of urban and metropolitan institutions - public, private as well as social and non-governmental.
Workshops will be based on study visits, academic walks and workshops outside the lecture hall - at the premises of the visited institution or in the field.
Students will have the opportunity to understand the different models and rationalities of urban systems, institutional networks as well as individual institutions. Classes are aimed at students from many disciplines, including social sciences, economics, natural sciences and the humanities. The aim of the workshop is to confront theoretical knowledge about the city with practice and to better understand the differences in the perspective of the clerk, the administrator, the service provider and the resident.
Field studies and visits in various institutions in Warsaw will allow students to understand the complex processes taking place in urban space and to select the institution that will be the subject of the final evaluation.
An important element of completing the course is group evaluation project of a selected institution. Evaluation shall be done from a systemic perspective, identifying institution’s main challenges and proposing recommendations for further functioning in the city.
