The seminar `s aim is to prepare the students to independent solving of a particular practical problem encountered by the students during their teacher's training, as well as to enable them to formulate and analyse the problem in accordance with the criteria of academic research.
To that end, the students are required to:
" acquire the basic knowledge in glottodydactics and its aim as a science
" get acquainted with the techniques and principles of research in glottodidactics
" get acquainted with the techniques of formulating thesis topic, the techniques of gathering and processing research materials, as well as the techniques used in writing research papers
" be able to construct the empirical part of the research paper, to gather and analyse data
" be able to put forward and to defend a practical solution (lesson plans), as well as to present a didactic commentary and reflections on one`s own performance as a teacher.

" General information about the bachelor's thesis
o the bachelor' thesis as systematisation of knowledge in the area of a selected practical problem
o the aims of a Bachelor's thesis
o formal and content-related requirements; the scope of the Bachelor's thesis
o the structure of the thesis
" the scientific vs. colloquial image of the world; scientific theories; hypothesis; the characteristics and methods of scientific research; glottodidactics as a science
" scientific literature; classification; accessing scientific information; using library resources.
" gathering research materials and writing bibliography
" assessing and selecting research materials, processing research materials,making index cards and writing prospectuses.
" the basic principles in constructing Bachelor's thesis, the text structure, form, style; the division of the text
" empirical research in glottodidactics, methods and techniques; collecting and analysing data
" reliability and accuracy in qualitative research
