European Education and the European Systems of Education Course 4103-EwE35
The content of the module on education comprises the following thematic groups: basic visions of education in the contemporary world, educating ideologies with special consideration on the European context, teaching in European schools, school practice and methodology of the teacher's work in selected European countries, the educational philosophy of the Polish school against the background of changes in Europe and the sociological and cultural conditioning of education in European countries.
The second part of the module comprises: structures of the systems of general training, structures of the systems of professional training in Europe using selected examples, conditioning of the educational policy, European documents referring to education and strategies for the reorganisation of education (in Poland and other European countries.)

1.Historical background and general overview of approaches to the evolution of schools in Europe.
2.Educational problems of our times: character of education, school orientation and selection, school success and school failure, equalizing the educational effects, opening school systems to progressive, rational, creative and stimulating ideas.
3.Teaching profession in Europe: profiles, trends and concerns.
4.Key data on information and communication technology at schools in Europe.
5.The position of foreign languages in European educational systems.
6.Reforms of education (management of schools, lifelong learning, public-private education: opposition or cooperation?)
7.Integrating immigrant children into schools in Europe.
8.Education programmes and projects in EU: Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates, Europass-Training, E-Learning, Erasmus Mundus and other actions and initiatives.
9.Education and training - contribution in the Lisbon Strategy and Copenhagen Process.
