The Didactics of the German Course 4103-DP36
Teaching Methods is a two-semester course which employs a variety of teaching techniques and social forms. The trainees` participation in the course is accompanied by the Practice of Teaching course which gives the trainees the opportunity to observe classes.
2. Teaching objectives:
The aim of the course is to provide the trainees with methodological tools which will enable them to conduct German lessons. During the course the trainees will be acquainted with the process of writing lesson plans, selecting teaching materials, as well as with various teaching methods, and methods of assessment. After the course the trainees should be able to:
" plan and assess their performance in complex teaching situations
" formulate general and particular teaching aims for learners at various levels of advancement
" employ various teaching methods in the process of developing language skills, as well as teaching grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation to learners at various levels of advancement.
" employ various teaching methods in the presentation of realia and cultural components in a foreign language classroom
" predict problems which may occur in he above mentioned areas
" be acquainted with the principles and ethics of the teaching profession
" encourage learners` autonomy by familiarizing them with learning strategies and individualized learning styles
" employ techniques motivating learners
" be acquainted with the teaching materials and additional teaching tools used in foreign language teaching, as well as be able to assess their utility for a particular group of learners.
" be able to plan a lesson, to write a lesson plan and to evaluate a lesson according to given criteria
" create and keep archives of self-made teaching materials
" employ audio-visual and multimedia materials in a foreign language classroom
" use appropriate language in instructions and classroom management
" be acquainted with specialized literature relevant to the course content
