Upon completion a student can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization; s/he can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party; s/he can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

- elicit the meaning of unknown words from the context; can use various types of dictionaries.
Verbal interaction
The student can:
- take part in a scientific discussion or debate, presenting her/his own arguments and opinions, and asking questions;
- argue with arguments of other interlocutors assertively and in accordance with the convention;
Writing
The student can:
- summarize in writing information given, research results, opinions and arguments of the author, contained in a scientific text, an article published in a professional journal, based on notes;
- write an abstract of his own presentation;
- paraphrase the author's statements.
