Antique seminar:The work of Ovid and reception from I to XXI century 4018-SEM3
The seminar will be devoted to reading Ovid with the aim of developing an awareness of the changing reception of his works from the moment they were created to modernity. The strategy of work will be similar to that which developed in the 2007/08 academic year which was devoted to the work of Horace anad in the 2008/09 academic year which was devoted to the work of Virgil seen through its reception. The proportion between the time spent on interpreting the Latin originals and the time we will take to follow different kinds of reception will depend to some extent on the participants. It will be important to see to what degree the seminar participants want to and are able to work on materials from different eras in the development of Polish and European culture. Participation in the seminar does not mean any mutual obligations for the students or the teacher with regard to preparing a master's thesis. Any supervision over a master's thesis will be subject to separate agreements and does not have to be reflected in the seminar program.
