The lecture explains key problems of European Union information system. It points out basic weaknesses of this system and presents attempts of filling “the communication gap”.

Prerequisites (description)

The aim of the course is to acqaint a student with the European Union information sources and services. It is a conversatorium to be let partly as a lecture and partly as an exercise in the computer laboratory.

Learning outcomes

After course students:
- identify key events in the EU information policy history,
- point out reasons of success and failure of the EU information campaigns,
- point out EU media,
- list different functions of Internet in the EU information policy,
- predict information activities related to Polish presidency in the Council of the European Union,
- provide themselves permanent access to news on the EU.

Assessment criteria

Final written exam.
