Foundations of Private Law 4003-103PP

Lecture dedicated to general problems of Polish private law, its basic sources and selected pertinent judiciary, with most attention paid to civil law. Before each lecture students are asked to read pertinent materials. Lectures are combined with discussion among the lecturer and students. Activity during lectures is one of the final evaluation criteria. Designed for students who have not studied law before.

Prerequisites (description)

The present course has propaedeutic character. In its framework, students learn the basic institutions of private law and especially civil, international private (conflict of laws) and corporate law.

Learning outcomes

A student understands distinction between private and public law.
He is aware of fundamental sources of private law
He understands the basic concepts of property law, contract law, corporate and conflict of law.

Assessment criteria

Written examination (test), Activity during lectures is one of the final evaluation criteria
