Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the student:
- Has a good knowledge of the concept of field as defined by Pierre Bourdieu, and of related concepts.
- Analyses the history and present of Polish linguistics in terms of the field theory.
- Critically analyses the links between linguistics as a discipline and its schools and non-academic interests and fields.
- Analyses the historical genesis of contemporary divisions in the field of linguistics
- Analyses the wider social and political roles of Polish linguistics in the course of the 20th century.
