Professional placement 3502-JIS-PRAK
Internship should enable students to deepen and to use knowledge about communication processes, in particular about language aspects of interpersonal communication. Students should be able to use the concepts and methods, studied in the field of the linguistic and sociological analysis of discourse and social semiotics, to analyze and to interpret social and cultural phenomena, as well as to diagnose and solve problems arising in social life.

K_W04 has a systematic and deepened specialist knowledge of communication practices;
K_W09 has an orientation in contemporary intellectual and cultural life in Poland and selected world regions;
K_W11 has an in-depth knowledge of social institutions, including the communicative and discursive aspects of their functioning;
K_W12 has an in-depth knowledge of the new media, as well as of rules and consequences of their social functioning;
K2_W14 has an in-depth knowledge of relations between social structures/institutions and linguistic/social aspects of building individual and group identities;
K_U01 using a variety of resources, can search, select, analyze, evaluate and integrate the data related to the language, the micro-context of communication and social/cultural macro-context in terms of the phenomena analyzed in the group research project;
K_U03 can individually acquire knowledge and broaden research skills in terms of the phenomena analyzed in the selected group research project;
K_U07 knows how to use argumentation and persuasion, based on his/her own views and opinions of other social actors; can formulate conclusions and synthetic summaries;
K_U12 can indicate and use in one’s actions norms and principles of professional ethics;
K_U14 can assess individually specific problems in interpersonal communication and suggest potential solutions;
K_K03 can co-operate and work in a group, assuming various roles as a participant; can choose means of communication as appropriate to specific actions;
K_K04 is open to contacts with people from different cultures, showing empathy and understanding for difference;
K_K06 can identify priorities in the implementation of the tasks assigned to him/her and other participants;
K_K08 can participate in the preparation of projects concerning communication and social discourses, and can anticipate social consequences of his/her actions;
K_K09 is ready to broaden individually and critically their knowledge and skills, linking the sociological and linguistic perspectives.
Assessment criteria
The student gets credit on the basis of a certificate of internship issued by the host institution. There is also a possibility to get credit on the basis of a student's previous activity, as long as it coincides with the profile and program of the studies.
