Academic Writing and Speaking 3501-KOG-AWS2
The courses comprises two complementary parts. The first part is devoted to developing students' skills in using academic language. It involves expanding their technical vocabulary as well as helping them to master some more sophisticated grammar structures used in formal contexts. The second part focuses on developing basic writing skills, helpful at the beginning of the academic career, e.g. abstracts, research reports and reviews. A separate class deals with the problem of how to prepare posters and give presentations.
An estimated number of hours needed to achieve the learning outcomes: 30 hours (tutorials) + 45 hours (self-study)
