The seminar includes problems of institutional system solutions of tutoring, education, re-socialization and therapy of children and youngsters.
Presentation of rules, competencies and legal basis of children and youngsters care institutions and organizations.
The course includes the characteristic of preventive-social institutions that exist in Poland on one hand and their critical analyses and ideas for new solutions on the other hand.
The seminar’s goal is to present students different family and institution forms and the scope of duties of people who support children and youngsters in problem situations or behaving risky. The course area:
- school pedagogue, social worker, probation officer (professional guardian, social guardian), community policeman
- day support centers
- socialization and intervention centers
- family forms of substitutive care
- tutorial and re-socialization centers.

Learning outcomes
Students who finish the course have the knowledge of preventive-social and re-socialization institutions system, recognize their activities, competencies and legal basis. They are able to describe the “path of an institutional child” from tutorial to re-socialization centers. Additionally, they can explain the reason for implementation of the taken socialization, tutorial or education action. They can indicate the possibilities of applying different family and environmental forms and critically revise the system to find innovative solutions.
