The following main topics compose the core of the course:- sources of statistical data- graphical and numerical representation of information- analysis of data sets (means, dispersion, kurtosis) - Relationships between variables- correlation and regression analysis- elementary probability theory- normal distribution- discrete and continuous probability models.- confidence intervals- tests of statistical hypotheses related to one or two populations (means, fractions), statistical significance- chi-square tests.Use of computer and Excel spreadsheet is practical.
