Digitalization of Polish historical dictionaries 3322-DPSH-OG
Mass digitalization and resulting availability of old texts make
historical dictionaries useful also for the general public. The main Polish dictionary digitalization projects will be presented with special attention devoted to the needs of their users.
The term “Polish historical dictionaries” is understood to mean both old dictionaries of the Polish language and modern dictionaries of the old Polish language, and also such works as the “Geographical dictionary of the Polish Kingdom and other Slavic countries” from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Until recently, they were of interest only to a few specialists, but the situation has changed with the mass digitalization of old texts and their increasing availability in digital libraries – currently, these dictionaries can have a much broader applicability. During the course, we will discuss the plans and perspectives of digitalizing the most important dictionaries of this kind. We will devote special attention to the lexicographical search engine available on the “Virtual lexicographical library” website. (wbl.klf.uw.edu.pl).
