Portuguese Philosophical Thought 3305-PMF21
The course offers a perspective upon main trends of Portuguese philosophical, social and political thought and the Portuguese philosophy of cultue. The basice themes and notions treated: messianism and the Portuguese universalism, the 5th Empire, the Portuguese being ou the debate over the Portuguese identity and its crisis, the reasons for the decadence and the programs of the political and moral renewal, the paper of education in the identity construction and the political strenght, the philosophy of yearning (saudosismo), the Sebastic philosophy, the idea of Lusophone culture and identity.

After having taken this course the student should manage the knowledge in the realm of main problems of Portuguese philosophical, social and political thought and the Portuguese philosophy of culture.
