Obligatory course

The course is delivered in French.

Aim and programme:

The aim of the course is to give to the students a further knowledge of contemporary France and her language, to make them acquire a richer vocabulary concerning modern life's realities.
The basis of this knowledge are selected, high-rate political commentaries and the evergreen literature created by contemporary writers of the French-speaking countries.
The programme includes vocabulary exercises (grammatical exercises when needed) and written communications on current topics discussed in class (finance, economy, law, health service, social problems, technique and architecture, art etc.).
Some classes with be devoted to the "étude du vocabulaire thématique", e.g. of vocabulary concerning sentiments, of ready-made phrases, expressions imagées, of slang, of suburbs' language and vocabulary, and to their ways of functioning in today's French.
