- introduction to formal specificity of Résumé i Résumé de synthese exercises confronted with the already known Compte rendu exercise
- active reading: locating logical tiers within a text, lexical analysis
- expanding vocabulary
- exercises in grammar and style
- mastering techniques of editing summaries (abridging, paraphrasing, finding synonymous lexical and grammatical constructs)
- discussing and comparing different summaries of the same text )

Prerequisites (description)

Aims: ? to perfect techniques of contracting texts, writing résumés, decoding logical relationships within the text, analyzing the vocabulary ? to prepare students to write Bachelor and M.A. theses. The future professional life of our students, whatever its domain (commerce, mass media, teaching) and the post concerned, requires the know-how of writing resumes, analyzing written texts, making a plan of a text, and reporting.
