Contrastive grammar 3304-3GK-2C
The course in contrastive grammar aims to introduce the students to the similarities and differences between the grammatical systems of French and Polish.
Problems discussed:
1. Differences between the Polsi and French grammatical terminology, grammatical caategories in both languages.
2. Phonetics/phonology: differences concerning the sub-systems of vowels and consonants, especially as to their pronounciation; prosody phenomena (differences of sccent and intonation), differences in the sylable's structure; combinatory phonetics in both languages respectively - samples; phonological oppositions.
3. Inflexion. Noun phrase - "determinants" in French vs. the corresponding structures in Polish; noun flexion in Polish vs. markers of syntactic relations in French. Verb phrase: systems of tenses; aspects in Polish and their French equivalents.
4. Word formation: dervation and composition in both languages.
5. From French into Polish and from POlish into French; how the new words get integrated into resp. the Polish and the French system (spoken and written).
6. Lexicon: comparison of some lexical fields; false friends.
7. Syntax: words' order, agreement, government, complex sentences, long sentences.

Learning outcomes
AFter completing the course, the student:
K_W02 knows the basic terminology of philology
K_W03 knows the basic notions and corresponding terms used to describe the language; is able to mention the crucial differences betwwen the Polish and French grammatical systems
K_W05 nas a strustured knowledge of language structures that cannot be copied from Polish into French or from French into Polish
K_W08 knows the main problems important to communiacte in good Polish and good French
K_W11 has a structured knowledge of morpho-syntax, semantics, phonlology and sttylistics of French
K_U01 can use different sources and methods (including modern technology of information search / processing) to find, analyse, evaluate, seelct and use information necessary to the classes. Uses the basic lexicographic and grammar sources.
