Description of content:
1. The presence of World War II in literature for children.
2. World War II in the newest children's books:
- childhood and life in occupied Poland,
- resistance movement and the Warsaw Uprising,
- Holocaust, life in the ghetto, Uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto,
- Janusz Korczak and his Orphan's House,
- Righteous Among the Nations.
3. Contemporary wars, refugees, migrants in the newest children's books.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- acquiring, deepening and updating knowledge about new trends in literature for children,
- getting to know the latest Polish and German literature for young readers, on the subject of World War II (occupation and wartime childhood, Warsaw Uprising, Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, Holocaust, resistance, etc.) and modern wars, conflicts and crises.
- the ability to prepare and present arguments in the discussion on the legitimacy or lack of legitimacy of the presence of war conflicts, migration crisis, refugees in-related subjects in books for young children and to conduct discussions.
Social competence:
- understanding the need for lifelong learning,
- the ability to participate in a discussion in a cultural way,
- the ability to systematically participate in cultural life and interest in the development of the publishing market of children's books.
Assessment criteria
Attendance and active participation in classes, presentation/paper.
Bibliography
Literature of the subject will be given at the first class.
