The melting pot of Eastern Slavic cultures: history - mentality - social policy 3223-TKSW-OG
The subject of the analysis is the Eastern Slavic countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus), whose historical heritage was shaped in different ways. This has also resulted in differences in mentality in each of the above-mentioned countries or even in the regions of the Russian Federation, which have been preserved despite functioning for many decades as part of the Soviet Union. Border changes numbering in the hundreds of kilometres, resettlements, purges, atheisation, political revolutions and other experiments on societies have clashed for centuries with tradition, faith, ethnic values, aspirations and national liberation movements, producing a huge historical-social-political baggage for the contemporary situation in this region of Europe.
When did Stalin allow Orthodox processions? Who was the Tsar of Moscow?Which nation is the most patient? How many secret cities are there in Russia? When did Zelenski perform in front of Putin? Is it worth singing about power? Is Russia in for a social revolution? Is Lukashenko needed by European politicians? Why is 'Special Operation' a cultural schism? What do people laugh at in cabarets? When is a national bond formed? What are overt and covert social needs?
Answering these questions and understanding the contemporary implications for Eastern Slavic culture by analysing the causal links arising from history, politics and the shaping communities is the subject of this course.
