Prerequisites (description)
Learning outcomes
Students will learn about the interactions between the Church/religion and nation/nationalism
during the 19th-century socio-political and national transformations. They will gain
knowledge about the process of creation of contemporary modern nations in Central Europe
and the role played by religion and clergy in this process. Thus, they will acquire the
competence to take a critical look at the processes of instrumentalization of religion and
religious symbols for political and national purposes.
