Intellectual property rights - basic course 3221-30PO11W
The course covers issues regarding protection of intellectual property understood in a broad sense: subject and object of intellectual property law, authors' personal rights, authors' property rights. The Law on Intellectual Property Protection (Ustawa o ochronie praw autorskich) (with updates) is the basis for the course, especially with regards to the work of translators, writers (and other creative authors) and the responsibility of publishers. Examples of applicaton of the legislation in various areas of creative work are described. The course also covers the specific nature of intellectual property protection in the Internet.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students:
- will have obtained knowledge regarding the law applicable to the protection of intellectual rights,
- will understand the principles of interpreting and applying individual articles of the Law on Intellectual Property Protection
- will know the nature of court jurisdiction
- will have an awareness of the intellectual property law regarding to its application in practice (especially while working as an author, translator or while cooperating with publishers)
- will know the foundations of intellectual property protection in the Internet
- will know how to research the current status of the legislation and court jurisdiction regarding intellectual property rights
