Historical grammar of Belarusian language 3221-30GH21A
The lecture is to present the phonetic and morphological systems of old Belarusian language and acquaint studenst with linguistic changes that are taking place in these systems. Show the evolution of Belarusian language on the basis of those peculiarities.
Exercises are designed to:
- deepen understanding of the issues from the lecture,
- give it its practical application (analysis of linguistic phenomena in old Belarusian texts, searching for changes in the texts, an understanding of phonetic changes, ability to read old Belarusian texts).

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, student:
- knows the peculiarities of old Belarusian language and mechanisms of forming the language;
- has general knowledge regarding the period XIV - XVIII centuries;
- explains the phonetic processes occurring in old Belarusian language;
- makes the linguistic analysis of historical old Belarusian literature;
- recognizes the phenomena of language in texts;
- understands the processes occurring in the language;
- sees the evolution of the Belarusian language as a whole.
Assessment criteria
The final exam for which the student is admitted on the basis of passing the exercise is carried out in the form:
1) written exam: test contains open or closed questions, questions to be completed;
2) oral examination: analysis of linguistic phenomena, based on ancient texts of the Belarusian literature.
